Radiohead 2012 Tour Announced

November 12, 2011

Aside from a few television performances, small venue shows in New York City, and UK festival spots, Radiohead have yet to fully hit the road in support of their latest LP, The King of Limbs. All that will change next February, though, as Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, and Phil Selway are ready to cross the pond for a string of 2012 U.S. tour dates. The 10-city, South/Midwest jaunt was announced earlier this week with tickets for almost every date going up for sale today via Ticketmaster (Tickets for the concert in Florida will be made available next Saturday).

Even better news to those of us living outside of the scheduled tour path is that further stops are to be revealed in the future, according to the band’s website, which simply stated, “more to follow.” In the meantime, here’s what we have so far:

In other news, Radiohead also announced this week that their full performance on Nigel Godrich’s From the Basement is available to purchase as a DVD or Blu-ray disc, with orders for the The King of Limbs-heavy set shipping out in time for the Christmas holiday.

‘Run Right Back’ by The Black Keys

November 11, 2011

Last month, the Black Keys unveiled the first single off their forthcoming LP, El Camino, in the form of “Lonely Boy,” an excellent blues-driven, garage rock jam that stirred up a ton of excitement for the record among longtime fans and newcomers alike. While we’ll still have to wait until December to hear the full 11-track set, a B-side, “Run Right Back,” has hit the web to whet our appetites in the meantime.

This one doesn’t have quite as many of the monster hooks that got people drooling over the A-side, but it nevertheless builds on the promise of their latest Danger Mouse-produced effort with plenty of gritty guitar tones, stomping percussion from Pat Carney, and Dan Auerbach’s familiarly soulful, howling vocals. In short, with tunes as good as “Run Right Back” left on the cutting room floor, this record could be their best yet. Hear it above.

Video: Crosby, Nash at Occupy Wall Street

November 11, 2011

Living folk-rock legends David Crosby and Graham Nash have joined a growing group of famous musicians to offer support of the nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement by stopping by the protest for a performance. Last month, we shared a clip of Jeff Mangum serenading the crowd and unleashing a few rousing sing-alongs at the scene in New York City, and now comes footage of two CSNY greats rekindling a few classics for the cause. In addition to an unplugged take on Woodstock favorite “Long Time Gone,” the pair performed “Military Madness,” “What Are Their Names,” “They Want It All,” and “Teach Your Children” on Tuesday.

Check out a clip of Crosby and Nash leading the crowd through the latter cut — a tune that remains brilliantly relevant after all these years — below:
