Earlier this month, we saw First Aid Kit debut a new song, “Emmylou,” from their forthcoming LP, The Lion’s Roar, on KCRW. Now we have a second preview of the tunes they cooked up in the studio with producer Mike Mogis: “Marianne’s Son,” a B-side to the single release of the album’s title track. As always with the Swedish duo, beautiful harmonies and indelible melodies abound in the folk tune, which is backed simply by understated acoustic guitar and synthesizer flourishes.

Not only are 24B faves such as Patti Smith, My Morning Jacket, Elvis Costello, and Jeff Beck included, but a host of pop stars — ranging from the likes of Adele and Natasha Bedingfield to Ke$ha and Miley Cyrus — have recorded cover songs from the poet laureate of rock’s incredible oeuvre.
