Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Soundtrack Tracklist

December 2, 2011

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have revealed details to their soundtrack to director David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, complete with free MP3 downloads, the premiere of the Karen O-featuring trailer cover of “Immigrant Song,” and a release date.

Digital copies of the 37-track set will be available on December 9, with CD copies shipping out later in the month and a deluxe vinyl edition (signed by Reznor and Ross, among other exclusive goods) arriving next year. What’s more, 6 cuts can be previewed for the price of an e-mail address now, and an 8-minute trailer that got movie theater audiences psyched over the summer can be seen for free on iTunes alongside the aforementioned Led Zeppelin take. Reznor himself unveiled an interesting side note with regard to the extended preview: “We scored this trailer separately from the film, BTW.”

So, without further ado, explore purchase/freemium options over here and take in the massive OST tracklist below:

Jackson Browne: Occupy Wall Street Song

December 2, 2011

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Jackson Browne stopped by Zuccotti Park today, becoming the latest in a growing list of famous musicians to support the Occupy Wall Street movement by performing at the protest site. While many of the artists to turn in an inspired appearance so far have revisited their relevant hits, brought back a few ’60s anthems, or simply came out of seclusion, Browne took the opportunity to unveil a brand new song for OWS — perhaps the first candidate for an official Occupy tune.

The odds are that Browne’s song will end up on the forthcoming Occupy This Album tribute compilation, but it might not be the only composition he’s penned in recent days. To wit, this track is so new that he read the lyrics off a handwritten sheet during today’s performance. Either way, the refrain was easy to both recall for the crowd and his friends from Dawes backing up the set: “Come on, come on, come on, if you’re coming. / Which side are you on?” Watch a video of Browne and friends’ rousing take below (via RS):

Josh Ritter ‘Live at Iveagh Gardens’ DVD/Album Announced

December 2, 2011

It’s been an insanely busy year for Josh Ritter — promoting his debut novel, his latest solo record, and hitting the road with the Royal City Band — but our favorite literary alt-country singer already has tour plans stretching into the new year. Before we get to that, though, here’s news of his next release: a live CD and DVD recorded at a 2-hour concert at Dublin, Ireland’s Iveagh Gardens last summer. December 13 is the official due date for the set, though pre-orders can be placed here today. Meanwhile, if you’re on the fence over whether to indulge in a Ritter show from the comfort of your home, a video clip from the DVD of his performance of the song “Lantern” can be previewed in full below. (Hint: It’s a rather promising teaser, shot beautifully in beautiful black and white.)

In other news, a New Year’s gig, solo shows, and a trio of concerts in Alaska next January have all been announced this week, as well. If you want to catch Josh with his full band, however, the New Year’s even is all that’s on the itinerary so far. So, without further ado, check out the dates while getting psyched with “Lantern” after the jump.
