Great news for Sufjan Stevens fans (especially those of whom loved Buck 65’s remix of his take on Castanets’ “You Are The Blood”): Hip-hop artist Serengeti and Sufjan have teamed up again to form a new trio with singer-songwriter Son Lux (aka Ryan Lott) called s / s / s. What’s more, a debut EP from the group is just around the corner, as Pitchfork reports that their 4-track set, Beak & Claw, will arrive in less than a month, on March 20th via Anticon Records. Today brings a preview of the tracklist (below), an intriguing tidbit about the EP’s guests, which include longtime Stevens collaborator Shara Worden, and a first promo photo of s / s / s. Few other details are available at the moment, but suffice it to say, March just got a lot more interesting. Looking forward to hearing what these three cooked up in the studio.

Our first taste of Regina Spektor’s 6th LP, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, arrived this morning in the form of “All The Rowboats.” Producer Mike Elizondo’s sequenced beats stand out most upon first listen, recalling the Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Jay-Z collaborator’s 2005 re-imagining of Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine (such as on “Tymps”) more closely than his work in hip-hop. The result is a darker, more urgent direction for Spektor that keeps her renowned knack for memorable melodies at the fore. In short, this really works and we can’t wait to hear more. Check it out above.
