We’ve heard cuts off Björk’s new album, Biophilia, in a variety of formats — as an art installment, a Michel Gondry-directed music video, and as an iPad app — but now for a more traditional take: live on Stephen Colbert’s satirical cable show, The Colbert Report. While her precise, half-a cappella rendition of “Cosmogony” certainly did the LP justice, it was the meeting of intriguing Colbert-Björk minds that stole the show around here. In addition to one of the more straightforward explanations by Björk on her use of a touchscreen for composition and presentation of the music (it helped her play an instrument and sing simultaneously), Colbert lightened up the conversation brilliantly, as usual, with fun quips and a foray into the topic of Icelandic elves.
