Ben Kweller Debuts “Mean to Me”

Our first taste of Ben Kweller’s forthcoming LP, Go Fly a Kite, arrived today in the form of a tasty, 3-minute bite of power-pop called “Mean to Me.”

“The chorus says, ‘You don’t know what you mean to me,'” Kweller told SPIN, explaining the tune’s optimistic reaction to some personal drama in Australia, “which can be can be about holding in negative feelings towards someone, but in my mind this chorus is for everyone I’ve loved, who’s been there for me in the past.”

The record this promising cut was plucked from will hit stores on February 7 as the inaugural release off Kweller’s own label, Noise Company. We’re looking forward to hearing more, but for now, dig into some crisp guitars, catchy hooks, and the outro’s gloriously horn-backed harmonies with “Mean to Me” below:
