Trey Anastasio has announced 4 solo concert dates for next year, described by the Phish guitarist as his “first-ever orchestral tour.” In each U.S. City on the jaunt — Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Denver, and Los Angeles — Anastasio will be joined by a guest symphony from the region for orchestrations of tunes from the Phish oeuvre as well as solo pieces.
Without further ado, here’s the 4-city “Winter Symphony Tour 2012” itinerary:
February
09 | Atlanta, GA @ Atlanta Symphony Hall w/ Atlanta Symphony
14 | Pittsburgh, PA @ Heinz Hall w/ Pittsburgh Symphony
28 | Denver, CO @ Boettcher Concert Hall w/ Colorado Symphony
March
10 | Los Angeles, CA @ Walt Disney Hall w/ Los Angeles Philharmonic
In other Anastasio news, 2012 will also bring the debut of Trey’s first musical, Hands on a Hardbody, a stage adaptation of a 1997 documentary about an endurance competition in which contestants try to win a truck by keeping their hands on the vehicle for the longest period of time. Black Swan actor/dancer Benjamin Millepied has joined the project as a choreographer for the musical theater project and Amanda Green has co-written tunes with Anastasio. One song reportedly set to appear in the stage show is “Burn That Bridge,” which has already been performed live. While you’ll have to wait until next spring to see the show when it debuts in La Jolla, California, today you can watch Anastasio and his band road-test that tune in the clip below:
