We’ve seen Mumford & Sons perform a number of new songs lately, in addition to a cover of the National’s “England,”and now they’ve teamed up to cover a tune with the original band themselves: Los Angeles rock group Dawes joined members of the British quartet recently for an inspired performance of their excellent jam “When My Time Comes” on WXPN. With both groups taking inspiration from the great folk-rock acts of the 1970s, the collaborative result was quite seamless, as you might imagine. Tight-knit harmonies, well-honed arrangements, and — most notably — the melding of frontmen Marcus Mumford and Taylor Goldsmith’s vocals take the tune to new heights.
In short, it’s simply a special moment caught on tape during the rise of two of the most promising acts around these days. WXPN shared the video posted above.
