Details on Leonard Cohen’s forthcoming Old Ideas LP have finally arrived: 10 new tunes, which include a pair of songs debuted live on recent tours, will be released on January 31st via Columbia Records. Per a description sent to the press, the lauded poet/songwriter’s latest effort will “address some of the most profound quandaries of human existence – the relationship to a transcendent being, love, sexuality, loss and death,” in addition to being “arguably the most overtly spiritual” record of his inimitable oeuvre so far.
We’ll be discussing this — the most highly anticipated release in years around here — more tomorrow (when a stream of “Show Me the Place” becomes available), but in the meantime, let’s get psyched by checking out the album cover above and tracklist below. Update: “Show Me the Place” has arrived.
