Metal/hard-rock pioneers Black Sabbath announced today that their long-rumored 2012 reunion is true. Reconvening at Los Angeles’ Whiskey a-Go-Go (where they played their first U.S. show over 4 decades ago), original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward revealed their plans at a press conference: a world tour next year, a headlining set at England’s Download Music Festival, and a forthcoming Rick Rubin-produced album.
The LP, which will be their first studio effort in over three decades, is set for release in fall of 2012. In addition to the surprise presser, the legendary quartet uploaded the big news to YouTube. Check out the clip below:
