Canadian indie rockers Metric will add another notable film to their soundtrack resumĂ© — which boasts recent contributions to Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and a theme song for Twilight: Eclipse — when they team up with Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore for the score to Cosmopolis, a forthcoming adaptation of Don DeLillo’s 2003 novel of the same name. Directed by fellow Toronto-based Canuck David Cronenberg and starring Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson, Emily Haines and co. said the film’s “themes are right in tune with the overall mood of the world at the moment,” in an announcement on their website.
As of now, details are scarce (Cosmopolis is said to hit screens early next year), but we’ll update this post when the full tracklist and further info are available.
In the meantime, Metric coupled their soundtrack collaboration news with a teaser about their next album: “We’ve been working away on a new album at Giant Studios in Toronto and at Electric Lady in New York City,” they revealed. “We’re on the last stretch! Looking at a release date in early 2012 … Exciting!”
