Dr. John – “Revolution”

February 29, 2012

Jack White isn’t the only Nashville garage-rocker to man the boards for a living legend of late: Dan Auerbach — whose Black Keys now record at their own Tennessee studio — has joined forces with New Orleans icon Dr. John for a new album, Locked Down, arriving in April. Today brings our first taste, “Revolution,” in which the R&B M.D. also known as Mac Rebennack sounds as vital and prepared to bring the house down as ever.

“[T]hat Farfisa solo on ‘Revolution’ – that’s a first-take solo,” Auerbach tells Rolling Stone. “He just goes for it, man. He told me he hadn’t played a Farfisa organ since 1969 when he was with Doug Sahm, and he killed it.” Give it a spin here:

In other Auerbach collaboration news, check out his new tune with Michael Kiwanuka, “Lasan.”
