A promising Serge Gainsbourg-related project that we first reported on back in March has finally come to light: From Lulu to Gainsbourg, a collaborative tribute album led by the late Gainsbourg’s surviving son, Lulu, will arrive on November 14, complete with guest vocals from the likes of Iggy Pop (who has drawn inspiration from Gainsbourg on recent efforts), Scarlett Johansson (aka Brigitte Bardot to Pete Yorn’s Serge on Break Up), Rufus Wainwright, Vanessa Paradis, and Marianne Faithfull.
We’ll have to wait a few months to hear the full tunes this impressive roster put to tape in the studio, but a taste of what’s to come arrived early in the form of “Bonnie and Clyde,” Gainsbourg’s 1968 duet with Brigitte Bardot as covered by Johansson and Lulu. Hear a snippet below:
